Camp Standards for Mine Workers

What you eat, where you sleep, and how you wind down at the end of your shift is important.

But mining employers seem to think it’s acceptable to provide unsanitary, unsafe, and sub-par living conditions for the workers making these companies billions of dollars in profit every year.

The WMWA is launching a campaign to improve camp conditions on Pilbara mine sites, calling for minimum standards for food, accommodation, security and facilities.

We’re preparing a report into the good, the bad and the ugly standards that workers are expected to put up with, so we can lift the lid on what life is really like in the Pilbara, and call for new laws so employers must provide mine workers with appropriate amenities.
